The Ykipass flashcards are brilliant learning tools that Tarek and Lidiia have created for learners of Finnish as second and foreign language. As a multilingual teacher and learner of Finnish as sixth language and Swedish as seventh language and knowing more or less ten languages , I can only warmly recommend these ressources also to teachers. There is research evidence on formulaic language by Alison Wray, Uk-based researcher showing the benefits of formulaic language in successful language learning and teaching. Through the writing phrases, household expressions and expressing emotions, the creators of these flashcards have managed to apply research-based time-tested knowledge to help both learners but also teachers who are interested in these tools for their classes.
Just super good and very helpful. This was really lacking for me before and a very important step in the studies towards YKI pass.

I started the writing course with Tareque because I hadn’t yet received the results of my YKI test and I wasn’t feeling confident about my performance. I had already registered for a new test and decided to prepare more seriously.
About halfway through the course, I received my results — and I had passed. Instead of stopping the lessons, I suggested that we shift the focus and use the remaining sessions to further develop my Finnish, especially my speaking skills.
Tareque was completely open and flexible. He immediately adapted the plan and redesigned the lessons to focus on conversation and fluency. We had four sessions fully dedicated to speaking practice, confidence building, and real-life communication.
The lessons were always very pleasant and natural — more like structured conversations, with constant, practical feedback on how to improve clarity, confidence, and expression.
Tareque is a very positive and efficient teacher. He is clearly committed to his students’ progress and genuinely cares about their development. What stood out to me was his ability to adapt the teaching approach to the student’s needs, even mid-course.
I highly recommend Tareque, and I’m very grateful for the time we spent working together. I learned a lot — and it truly felt like a valuable exchange.
